WAYFARERS LODGE #50, F&AM

ARTICLE I
Name and Officers

Sec. 1 This lodge shall be known by the name of Wayfarers Lodge #50, Free and Accepted Masons of Phoenix, Arizona and its officers shall consist of a Master, a Senior Warden, a Junior Warden, a Treasurer, a Secretary, and such other officers as the Lodge may deem proper to appoint and such Trustees as the Lodge may hereafter determine to elect.

ARTICLE II
Officer Election

Sec. 1 The Master, Wardens, Treasurer, and Secretary shall be elected annually by ballot at the November Stated Meeting. The majority of the members present and voting shall be necessary to elect. The Lodge Officers shall be installed within sixty (60) days following the Stated Meeting at which they are elected and shall hold their respective offices until their successors shall have been elected and installed.

Sec. 2 None but members in good standing shall be entitled to vote at an election.

Sec. 3 No member shall be eligible for the Office of Master unless he has previously held the office of Senior or Junior Warden. No Member shall be eligible for the Office of Senior Warden unless the Office of Junior Warden has been vacated for any reason. No Junior Warden shall be eligible for the Office of Master, unless the office of Senior Warden has been vacated for any reason.

Sec. 4 Any member in good standing may be eligible for the office of Junior Warden, provided he is proficient in accordance with General Regulation #39 of the Arizona Masonic Code of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 5 The power and duties of the Master shall conform with Part IV, Article II of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 6 The duties of the Wardens shall be as outlined in Part IV, Article III of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 7 The duties of the Treasurer shall be as outlined in Part IV, Article IV of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 8 The duties of the Secretary shall be as outlined in Part IV, Article V of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 9 The Master, Senior and Junior Wardens and Trustees shall take an inventory of all the Lodge Properties after the election of officers and make a written report to be submitted to the Lodge at the January Stated Meeting.

ARTICLE III
Trustees

Sec. 1 A board of Trustees shall be elected by the Lodge, consisting of a three (3) member board. Any member in good standing may be elected to the Board, except elected line officers. The Wardens, Treasurer, and Secretary are required to attend all meetings. The Secretary shall act as secretary for the Board and the Master is the Chairman of the Board, and in his absence, the Senior Warden, and in his absence the Junior Warden.

Sec. 2 The election of the Board member shall be held at the time and place of the annual election of the officers of the lodge.

Sec. 3 The Board of Trustees at the first election shall be: The member receiving the highest number of votes shall serve for three (3) years, the member receiving the next highest shall serve for two (2) years, the member receiving the next highest shall serve for one (1) year, and thereafter one member shall be elected to serve for three (3) years. In the event of a tie, successive ballots will be held until there are three (3) Trustees elected.

Sec. 4 All property shall stand in the name of the Trustees or their successors in trust for the Lodge and have charge of the same. They shall make a report of their meeting to the next Stated Meeting of the Lodge.

Sec. 5 The duties of the Trustees shall be: To make purchases of personal property and to hold the same in trust for the Lodge. They shall have the power, when authorized by the Lodge and, when necessary, by Regulation 16 of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona, to care for and repair the same when required; and when authorized by the Lodge and by Regulation 16 of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona, they shall have the power to buy, sell, mortgage, deed, or convey the same.

Sec. 6 The Trustees will administer the Investment program informing the Worshipful Master and Treasurer as to the status and recommend actions that will be necessary to achieve and maintain the program. The recommendations shall be submitted to the Lodge for approval.

Sec. 7 A Trustee may temporarily fill any office or station in the Lodge. If removal of a Trustee is necessary for any reason, the Master shall appoint a successor for the unexpired term.

ARTICLE IV
Meeting of the Lodge

Sec. 1 The stated meeting of this Lodge shall be held at 7:00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month throughout the calendar year, except the months of July and August in Phoenix Arizona.

Sec. 2 Special or subsequent meetings may be called at the will and pleasure of the Worshipful Master.

ARTICLE V
Initiation of Members

Sec. 1 All petitions for initiation or affiliation must be signed by the petitioner and be recommended by two (2) members in good standing of this Lodge, or one (1) member in good standing of this Lodge and a member in good standing of any other Lodge recognized by the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Arizona. The Brother who is not a member of Wayfarers Lodge #50 must submit satisfactory proof that he is in good standing and the petition shall be accompanied by the necessary fee.

Sec. 2 Each petition for membership either by degree or affiliation shall be referred to a three (3) man investigation committee appointed by the Worshipful Master and whose duty shall be to carefully investigate the petitioner and report thereon to the Worshipful Master before the next stated meeting, unless further time be granted, at which time a ballot shall be had for the election or rejection of the petitioner.

Sec. 3 When two (2) favorable reports have been returned and the minority member has not requested further time, the Master may at his discretion declare the report of the committee favorable and cause a ballot to be had.

Sec. 4 If an applicant elected to receive the degrees of Masonry herein, shall fail to come forward and be initiated within ninety (90) days thereafter, the fee thus paid shall be forfeited unless the Lodge shall otherwise direct.

Sec. 5 Every person raised to the degree of Master Mason in this Lodge or elected by Affiliation shall sign the By-Laws except when such degrees are conferred as courtesy for another Lodge at the request of the Grand Lodge.

ARTICLE VI
Fees and Assessment

Sec. 1 The fees for three degrees of Masonry shall be ninety ($90.00) dollars. This shall be in addition to any and all fees and/or assessments levied by the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 2 (A.) The annual dues of the Lodge shall be one hundred ($100.00) dollars, plus the Arizona Grand Lodge per capita fees and assessments. For new members, the one hundred ($100.00) shall be prorated on a quarterly basis. Any increase or decrease4 in Grand Lodge fees or assessment shall be reflected by a like increase or decrease in dues to Wayfarers Lodge #50.

(B.) The operating expenses of the Lodge, as defined in Article VIII, Section 5, must be paid by the dues of the lodge. The lodge must make an annual budget, to evaluate operating expenses and a dues evaluation.

Sec. 3 This Lodge shall not expel a member for the non-payment dues; but in the case any member shall have refused or neglected to pay his dues during the period of six (6) months, he shall be notified by the Secretary that unless at the next stated meeting either his dues be paid or sickness or inability to pay be shown as the cause of such refusal or neglect, he will be suspended from all of the rights and privileges of Masonry. If neither of these two things be done, he shall at such stated meeting be declared by the Master to be so suspended unless, for special reasons shown, the Lodge may by majority ballot remit his dues or grant him further time for their payment.

Sec. 4 Member who have been suspended for non-payment of dues; may be re-instated by a three fourths (3/4) vote by written ballot of all members present and by payment of the current year's dues as outlined in Section 86 of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 5 Dues for Senior Life membership, fifty (50) years shall conform with the Grand Lodge Regulation #11.3 of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 6 (A.) Perpetual Membership. The authority for this type of membership is contained in regulation #11.4 of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona and is to be administered in accordance with those provisions.

(B.) Any member in good standing in this Lodge may purchase a Perpetual membership by depositing with the Secretary an amount equal to fifteen (15) times the annual dues of this Lodge. Should the dues be increased or decreased, the sum to be paid into the fund will be changed proportionally; however, such increase or decrease shall not be retroactive.

(C.) Upon payment of the proper amount, a Certificate of Perpetual Membership shall be issued to the member by the Grand Secretary and thereafter the Secretary of the lodge shall annually mail a current dues card to the last known address of said Perpetual member.

(D.) By the acquisition of said Perpetual Membership by a member of this lodge, he shall be forever exempt from annual dues, except any special levy by the Grand Lodge in the future.

ARTICLE VII
Income

Sec. 1 The income of the Lodge shall be that of the annual dues and such funds as deposited in the General Income Account. Initiation fees shall not be considered as income.

Sec. 2 Income from dues and fees shall be placed in the Chart of Accounts

Sec. 3 Wayfarers Lodge #50 Memorial Fund. A Memorial fund is hereby established whereby monies received by the Lodge as gifts, bequests, devices, or legacies may be preserved when so requested by the donor and into which other monies as the Board of Trustees shall designate may be deposited. The monies deposited in said Memorial Fund shall therein remain perpetual and shall be invested in banks, savings and loan associations, or in federal banks, subject to the following conditions:

(A) The interest or income earned by such deposits shall accrue to the Lodge for its use or be deposited in banks, savings and loan associations which are insured by an agency of the United States Government or in bonds or notes guaranteed by the United States Government as directed by the board of trustees and approved by the Lodge at a regular stated meeting.

(B) No part of the principal deposited in said Memorial Fund shall be withdrawn or spent for any purpose except on the affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members present at a designated stated meeting not less than thirty (30) days after notice to all members, stating the meeting's date and the specific purpose of the proposed withdrawal.

Sec. 4 Wayfarers Lodge #50 Investment Fund

(A) An investment fund ("Fund") shall be create4d to receive property, real, personal or mixed, which may hereafter be received by the Lodge by way of donations, gifts, bequeaths, legacies or other devices from any source.

(B) All such property shall be administered by the Board of Trustees of this Lodge. The Board of Trustees shall have all such rights, powers, and discretion as may be necessary or appropriate for the administration of the Fund, subject to such limitations as provided under Regulation 16 of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

(C) Investments of such Fund assets are the responsibilities of the Board of Trustees or such other persons or committee appointed by the Board.

(D) Expenditures, other than investment, by the Board of Trustees of these assets must be approved by the member of the lodge at the next stated meeting unless otherwise provided for in the approved budget of the Lodge.

(E) The Board of Trustees shall have the minutes of its meeting read into the minutes of the next Stated Meeting of the Lodge or at such other times as requested by the Master.

(F) The Trustees shall pay over into the Memorial Fund the Net proceeds or a portion thereof on any asset of the Investment Fund that has been converted into cash, said payment or proceeds are to be applied as specified by the original donor, to the extent it is legally and practically possible.

(G) The Trustees shall honor and conform to the conditions set forth by the donor, so long as the conditions are compatible with the teachings of Masonry and do not cause an undue administrative burden.

Sec. 5 Real property can only be accepted und the provisions of Regulation #16 of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 6 The Lodge may raise or approve funds for special activities. Funds for special activities are to be deposited in the "General Fund." These funds are to be accounted for under a separate accounting category created for the special activity and titled with the same name.

ARTICLE VIII
Expenditures

Sec. 1 All expenditures for the maintenance of this Lodge shall be paid out of the "Building Maintenance Fund."

Sec. 2 The amount of monies to be spent for entertainment and refreshment shall be specified in the Lodge's annual budget.

Sec. 3 The amount of money to be expended for charities shall be specified in the Lodge's annual budget.

Sec. 4 This Lodge shall not participate in donations of money or charities prohibited by of the Constitution of the Most Worshipful Lodge Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Sec. 5 The secretary and treasurer are authorized to pay all utility bills, insurance and maintenance costs on al timely basis. These bills/costs will be reported to the membership at the next stated meeting.

Sec. 6 A special project shall be funded from the Chart of Accounts by spending only from the accounting category created for that special project. The Secretary and Treasurer are authorized to pay funds as requested to execute the project when the funds are requested by the project chairman. The amount of funds disbursed may be up to the amount pre-approved by the lodge for that special project and providing the funds are available in that special project accounting category. Original receipts must be given to the Treasurer no later than the next stated meeting and the expenditures reported to the membership at the same meeting.

ARTICLE IX
Committees

Sec. 1 The Master and Wardens shall be a charity committee and have the power to draw upon the Treasurer for any sum not exceeding one hundred ($100.00) dollars at any one time for the relief of a distressed worthy brother, his wife, widow or orphans.

Sec. 2 The Master-Elect shall immediately appoint an Auditing Committee whose duties it shall be to examine all accounts presented against the Lodges so that said report may be ready for the first Stated Meeting in February at which time the annual report shall be given.

Sec. 3 A Committee for the selection of the "Mason of the Year" award will consist of the last three (3) recipients of the award with the Senior Committee member sitting as Chairman. They will report their selection to the Master of Wayfarers Lodge and the Arizona Grand Lodge.

ARTICLE X
Candidate Rejections

Sec. 1 When a candidate for initiation or affiliation is rejected or a Brother reprimanded, suspended or expelled, no member or any other visitor shall reveal, either directly or indirectly, that which may have taken place on the subject. Nor shall any proceedings of the Lodge, not proper to be made public, be discussed outside thereof, under penalty or reprimand, suspension, or expulsion, as the Lodge may determine.

ARTICLE XI
By-Laws Amended

Sec. 1 These By-Laws may be amended at any stated meeting by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members present and voting, provided that written notice of such amendments shall be given at the stated meeting next preceding and a notice be mailed to each member of this lodge who is in good standing, but such amendments shall not take effect until transmitted to the Grand Secretary for approval by the Grand Lodge. They may be acted under until the next annual communication if approved by the Grand Master. The Secretary of the Lodge shall note upon the minutes of the Lodge the notice of proposed amendment when made and when transmitted for such approval, shall attach a certificate under seal, showing that the law has been complied with and that the amendment has requisite vote.

Sec. 2 The dates of all amendments to the By-Laws past, present, and future shall be incorporated into the By-Laws and noted at the end of the By-Laws.

ARTICLE XII
Order of Business

Sec. 1 The regular order of business at a Stated Meeting of this Lodge shall be as follows:

(A) Introduction of visitors

(B) Sickness and distress

(C) Reading of the minutes

(D) Reading of correspondence

(E) Reports of committees

(F) Reception of petitions

(G) Balloting on petitions

(H) Reading of Bills

(I) Unfinished or miscellaneous business

(J) Old business

(K) New business

(L) Masonic Education

(M) Announcements
